Patch Testing for Lash Adhesives
What is patch testing?
Patch testing is used as a method to prevent any adverse reactions to the lash adhesives used and should be done at home or via a professional prior to using any new product like lash adhesive.
By carrying out a patch test on a new product before fully using it, you are seeing how you personally react to it and if there are any adverse reactions such as itching, swelling or any other discomfort you can discontinue use.
Strip Lash Glue
To test a strip lash glue, a tiny amount of the adhesive can be applied to the outer edge of the eye along your own natural lash line.
This should then be left for 24 hours to see if any adverse effects are felt. If no reaction occurs, you should then be okay to continue use to apply the lashes.
If at any point, there is any discomfort or unwanted reactions, you should immediately discontinue use of the product.
Semi-Permanent Lash Adhesive
Testing of adhesive for individual lashes can be done as follows.
Apply two or three lash clusters or strands to the outer edge of the eye using the adhesive you wish to test.
Leave them in place for 24 hours and as before, if no adverse reaction occurs you may then proceed to use the glue for a full lash application.
As before, if at any point there is any discomfort or adverse reactions, please discontinue use immediately.
Alternative method for patch testing
For both strip lash glue and semi-permanent glue, a cotton bud can be used to apply a tiny drop of the product to the skin behind the ear.
This area directly behind the ear is sensitive and should show any reactions sufficiently.
Leave adhesive in place for 24 hours to see if any adverse effects occur.
Warnings
Please always fully read the ingredients list of any new product and look for any ingredients you may be sensitive or allergic to.
If at any time discomfort or adverse reactions occur, bathe the area with cool water and if any symptoms persist, please seek medical advice.
